Chaos Front Guides

Guides Hub

This hub is the map of every Chaos Front tutorial on the wiki. The game launched on Steam on 3 September 2026 as a single-player, turn-based space mecha mercenary SRPG. If you are coming from Chaos Galaxy, the loop is different: you are not a nation. You are a corps that sells guns, stories, and timing.

Start with the beginner guide if the demo left you staring at a battleship you cannot empty. Then read combat before you stack three mecha on one tile and wonder why ram physics hates you. Controls exist because the UI is dense on mouse, pad, and Steam Deck.

What belongs in Guides

Guides answer jobs, not lore essays. How to play. How to sortie. How to recruit. How to take Mission Center contracts. How to avoid the 30/12/C.E.29 bad ending. How to finish a campaign without parking empty frames.

Use recruitment when the roster is the bottleneck. Use missions when the Centersea map is the bottleneck. Use the campaign walkthrough when you want a Lycurgus-shaped first clear. Use endings when you care about the eight finales more than a shiny hull. Use the Centersea map when the node graph is the bottleneck. Use the launch review when you are still on the store page.

Suggested reading order

  1. Getting Started — protagonists, mothership movement, first Mission Center.
  2. Controls — left click orders, right click data, Sortie, End Turn.
  3. Combat — ram, seize, morale, parry, fighter hit-and-run, instakill.
  4. Recruitment — captains, pilots, psychics, and why talents beat extra steel.
  5. Missions — contracts, faction battles, ally proposals.
  6. Walkthrough — a sane first campaign without spoilers for every branch.
  7. Endings — star 9, the C.E.29 date, and how not to lock a bad finale.

Pair this hub with the unit overview and army builds once you can finish a fight without routing. The character hub is for named officers and protagonist splits. The ending checklist is the one-page calendar you should pin.

Launch-week honesty

Chaos Front is a full release, not Early Access. It is still a launch-week wiki. Unit counts, talent names, and planet labels here come from the Steam page, monthly developer logs, the public demo, and store screenshots. We do not invent damage tables. If a number is missing, we say so and point you at the in-game encyclopedia.

The store warning is not flavor text. Upgrade the mercenary group to star 9 before 30/12/C.E.29 if you want the true endings. That clock is independent of how pretty your gold mecha looks on turn two.

Who these pages are for

New captains who bounced off the demo UI. Chaos Galaxy veterans who expect grand-strategy annexation. SRPG players who want Super Robot Wars animations with Advance Wars logistics. People who searched “Chaos Front walkthrough” the night the Steam page flipped to Mostly Positive.

If you only open three links, make them Getting Started, Combat, and the true ending checklist. Everything else is how you stop paying tuition in gold and morale.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the launch build and official notes.

Do I need the demo before the full game?

No. The full Steam release is out. The demo is still useful as a free UI lesson; the beginner guide covers the same sortie habits.

Which guide should I read first?

Open Getting Started, then combat. Bookmark endings before you ignore the in-game calendar.

Are these guides spoiler-heavy?

The walkthrough stays light on finale details. True-ending flags live on endings and the checklist.

Is Chaos Front multiplayer?

No. It is single-player. There is no drop-in lobby hiding behind the mercenary rank screen.
