Chaos Front Lycurgus and Hongyu

Chaos Front does not give you a silent custom merc with a slider for jaw size. It gives you two authored captains. The collection screen even hangs their portraits together. The campaigns do not. This page is the choice you make on the corps select cards. Pair it with getting started and endings.

Lycurgus — celebrity gun

Lycurgus is the young champion: galactic mecha olympiad, a face the sector already knows, a battleship and crew that let the tutorial say “Includes Tutorial” on his card. Demo players met him first because the demo locked the other lead. He is the cleaner on-ramp for Sortie, ram, and Mission Centers.

His story still dumps you into the same Consortium-revolutionary deadlock. Celebrity does not skip star 9. It just means NPCs have heard of you before you ram their cousin.

Play Lycurgus if you want the teaching corps, the Impactor-style opening, and a first clear that matches most YouTube footage. Then use the walkthrough as a spine, not as a spoiler script.

Hongyu — royal who walks

Hongyu’s store screenshot text is blunt: she is a descendant of the Gan royal family. Developer logs describe a woman who decides she will no longer be a political pawn and will build a mercenary corps whose name travels. In-game she already talks like someone who will send the Principality of Shazhou to support a weak Revolutionary Army while the Gan Dynasty watches.

Play Hongyu if you want court politics, proposal screens, and the campaign the demo hid. Her unique missions are the reason the developer delayed Early Access to finish both leads. Do not expect Lycurgus videos to preview her map.

Shared rules

Both leads:

• Are single-player campaign doors.
• Can reach true endings if the corps hits star 9 before 30/12/C.E.29.
• Share Centersea geography, factions, and the seventy-unit toy box.
• Keep at least half of their missions distinct, per developer logs.
• Do not expect a second human captain. There is no extra player to be the other protagonist.

Both leads still need recruitment, a mixed build, and a calendar habit from the ending checklist.

Which save to create first

If you never finished the demo, Lycurgus. If you already understand Sortie and want the story the marketing portraits have been hiding, Hongyu. If you are a completionist, you will make both anyway; the eight endings are not one file.

Do not restart every time a unique officer dies. Do Quick Save. Do not keep five unfinished files named “test ram.” Star rank is a campaign resource.

Cast around them

Helen-type crew on the Lycurgus hull. Gan-court faces and Three Kingdoms-named officers around Hongyu. Psychics and Archmagi in the wider lore. The character hub is the roster; this page is only the two doors.

When you have picked, go fight. The war does not pause because you are still on the select screen.

Corps select cards in the launch UI

Official screenshots show Lycurgus Corps with an “Includes Tutorial” chip and Hongyu’s Fire Blossom-style card beside it. That tutorial chip is your hint: one door teaches, the other assumes you will learn Sortie anyway. Right-click backs out of the select screen. You are not locked in until the file exists. After it exists, treat it as a campaign, not a costume.

If a YouTube video lists extra selectable mercenary brands from an old demo build, verify against your retail select screen. This wiki will not promote unverified corps names as playable campaigns. Two authored leads are the store promise. Everything else is a faction, a hire, or a misheard subtitle.
