Missions and Faction Wars

Chaos Front faction proposal screen targeting planet Shazhou

The Centersea Sector is a node map with almost twenty planets, industrial bases, and people who will pay you to ruin someone else’s week. Chaos Front’s operational layer sits on top of the grid combat. If you only fight the tutorial, you will miss the game. This page covers Mission Centers, faction battles, and ally proposals. Pair it with walkthrough and endings.

Mission Centers

Mission Centers hand out plotted contracts: escort, suppress, seize, story beats tied to a protagonist. Gold and reputation are the usual pay. Some missions are unique; developer logs also mention more than forty repeatable campaign battles for grinding rank without replaying the same cutscene.

Read the briefing for seize versus destroy. A capture contract fails if you instakill the target you were supposed to bag. Combat rules for that mistake live in combat.

Timed pings appear as map banners. One official screenshot sends you to Kowloon to join a battle before a time limit, with Massalia flagged on the same board. Treat those as calendar events, not side quests you can ignore until C.E.29.

Faction wars

Four factions field unique units and unique missions. The galaxy’s three great powers — the Republic of Legions, the Gan Dynasty, and the Shining Federation — built the Interstellar Consortium after they could not finish each other. The Consortium then became the exploitation machine. In C.E.26 a revolution on Massilia (Massalia in some UI) dragged mercenaries into a deadlock after the Black Flag defected.

You can take Consortium pay, revolutionary pay, or Black Flag pay. Winning battles for a faction raises relationship. At Trusted, faction Logistics will sell exclusive ships and ARMS. That is the long-term shopping reason to stop double-dealing every week.

Ally proposals

When you are an ally, you can push strategic actions: declare war, hold offensive, pick a target planet. Official art shows a Revolutionary Army proposal to have the Principality of Shazhou send troops, with planet stats for economy, industry, defense, and stability, plus a date chip such as 30/11/C.E.27. Right-click backs out. Choosing poorly spends political points and can strand a world you still need for a story flag.

Hongyu’s campaign leans into these Gan-court and Shazhou screens. Lycurgus still participates; he just arrives as a celebrity gun instead of a royal exile. See protagonists.

How the map pays you

Move along connected nodes. Wait spends time on an industrial base. Manage (ESC) is shops, roster, and collection. The collection screen tracks members, units, and endings (0/8 until you actually finish finales).

Gold buys frames. Reputation buys doors. Relationship buys ARMS. Star rank buys the right to see a true ending. If you chase only gold, you will own a pretty fleet that the ending checklist still fails.

A working operational loop

  1. Check the date and any timed banner.
  2. Take one Mission Center contract you can win with the current build.
  3. Do at most one faction battle that matches the paymaster you are courting.
  4. Recruit if a unique officer is in port; see recruitment.
  5. Spend leftover gold on ammo and a missing role, not a fifth battleship.
  6. Quick-save before a proposal that declares war.

Arena content exists as a separate pressure valve for unit tests. Use it to try a fighter hit-and-run without burning a unique mission.

What not to do

Do not ignore the Consortium calendar. Do not declare war on everyone because the Declare War button is red and tempting. Do not skip unique story missions to farm repeats until your star rank is already late. Do not assume a planet name you cannot read is filler; Centersea geography is how Hongyu and Lycurgus bump into the same war from different doors.

For the first-clear route, continue on the campaign walkthrough. For the finale flags, continue on endings.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the launch build and official notes.

How many unique missions are in the full game?

Developer logs cited more than sixty unique missions plus more than forty repeatable campaign battles. Treat those as launch-era counts, not a live API.

Can I stay neutral forever?

You can delay, but star 9 and several story flags expect you to pick sides. The endings guide is where neutrality usually dies.

What does Trusted unlock?

Faction Logistics: exclusive ships and ARMS. Relationship comes from fighting for that faction, as described in the August development log.

Are proposals missable?

They are time-stamped on the map. If a banner says a battle expires, believe it. Right-click out if you need to read controls first.
