Launch Notes

Han Zhiyu posted the short version: after three years of work, Chaos Front has officially launched. No spoilers, go dive into the Centersea War. This page is the longer version for people who want the store facts in one place before they open getting started.

The video in the middle is the developer’s own demo announcement. It is a real YouTube upload from 韩之昱, not a fan re-encode of the Steam trailer.

Ship date and store facts

  • Release: 3 September 2026 on Windows via Steam.
  • Status: full release, not Early Access.
  • Players: single-player only.
  • Deck: Verified.
  • Input: full controller support, keyboard-only and mouse-only options, save anytime.
  • Languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Spanish (Latin America). This wiki covers English, Japanese, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.
  • Launch offer: 10 percent off through 17 September 2026 on the store page we cited.
  • Achievements: eight, with names that hint at rebellion, Black Army, and schism.

The English store listed $19.99, with a 10 percent introductory offer to $17.99 through 17 September 2026. Regional accounts may still show yen or yuan. Trust the sticker on your Steam page. Early user reviews sat at Mostly Positive (72 percent of 44). That snapshot can move; the launch review tracks what it means.

What actually shipped

A mercenary SRPG on the Centersea Sector map. Two protagonists, Lycurgus and Hongyu. About seventy units. More than one hundred named characters. Mission Centers, faction wars, ally proposals, arena, repeatable campaign battles. Cutscene combat animations. A collection that tracks members, units, and eight endings.

The Steam page still prints the fail state in bold: bad ending on 30/12/C.E.29 unless the mercenary group is star 9 in time for the final battle. That sentence is the most important launch note. Put it on the ending checklist.

What did not ship

Drop-in sessions. Live-service gacha. Roblox codes. A free weapon sandbox on every chassis. Simplified-Chinese-only story — the English localization had community help, and Japanese had a documented retranslation pass after demo feedback.

If you expected Chaos Galaxy’s nation-painting loop, you got a mercenary loop instead. That is not a patch; that was the pitch in 2024.

Launch-week reading order

  1. Getting started — Sortie and the first Mission Center.
  2. Combat — ram, parry, fighters.
  3. Protagonists — pick a door.
  4. Units — seventy jobs, not a fake DPS sheet.
  5. Endings — the calendar.

Then play. Come back to this page if a post-launch patch changes a gate. The updates hub is where those lines will land.

Support and community

Store Discord: the invite printed as discord.gg/KDMtCtj. QQ group 211909740. Support email chaosgalaxy@163.com. This wiki is unofficial; links repeats those URLs without claiming we run them.

If your install desyncs cloud saves, that is a Steam problem first. If your Sortie does nothing, that is a controls problem. If your true ending vanished, that is a date problem.

Localization and who to thank

The developer writes in Chinese and English. Community volunteers retranslated Japanese after demo complaints and helped English story polish. Spanish (Latin America) shipped on the launch language table. This wiki’s Traditional Chinese pages match a store language; Simplified Chinese exists in-game and is not hosted here.

If a proper noun disagrees between a YouTube subtitle and the UI, trust the UI. Demo footage misheard corps names more than once. Protagonists uses Lycurgus and Hongyu as printed on cards.

Achievements as a museum, not a guide

The eight achievement titles (End of the Rebellion, Embers of Revolution, The Tyrant Must Die, Galactic Schism, Black Army Eastward, Shattered Dreams, Black Army Exodus, Chaos Sector) tell you the war is political. They are not a hex-by-hex walkthrough. Play the missions. Let the collection fill. Do not hunt achievement icons at the cost of unique story maps you still need for star 9.

Launch week is for learning Sortie and pinning the calendar. Patch week, if it comes, is for updates. Do not wait for a balance manifesto before you take a Mission Center contract.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does launch include all eight endings?

The collection tracks 8 endings and the developer said those storylines were designed. You still have to reach them; see endings.
